I had difficulty putting this book down and really felt like I have spent the last few days with her documentary team in the Alps. It had so much love in it, don't get me wrong—the love of friends, of family, of persevering, but romantic love factored in quite a bit less than I was expecting.It was supposed to be an enemies to lovers book but it skipped the gradual transition between the two. Two big sports for adrenalin junkies, which given I read this just as the Summer Olympics came to an end, and I know I will equally be obsessed come Beijing 2022 and the Winter Sports - this let me have my sporting obsession continue for a bit longer. Clover is a talented interviewer, putting her subjects at their ease to produce compelling documentaries. There is, as always, a little bit of mystery behind the story as well, and I greatly enjoyed discovering the clues and solving the questions. Kit Foley seems to have been involved in a surfing accident that left champion Cory Allbright disabled and unable to take part in any further surfing championships, in fact depriving him totally of his livelihood.

But it just ends up with there being a really delicious chemistry between the two characters, and I swear it felt like their energy crackled from the page anytime they were in a room together.

Although I guessed most if the secrets there was still a few surprises I didn't expect so I couldn't put this book down I needed to read on. La triste vicenda, esposta da Karen Swan con un’eccessiva quanto pedante retorica, evolve in maniera ancora più tragica, poiché la depressione che lo affligge da allora lo conduce al gesto più estremo.The plot becomes thrilling when Clover and Kit get into danger and as the media turn against Kit, Clover realises that her motivation is to find the truth and justice for Cory and Kit. She is incredibly driven, her work meaning evrything to her at the expense of her social life, but life in the Alps offers her, and her team, a good dose of Apres Ski. I did find probably the first half of the book quite frustrating, with Kit and his team, and Clover and her team, circling around each other, with lots of simmering tension.

It's dislike at first sight but boundaries become dangerously blurred as Clover finds herself drawn into Kit's power games. Wow that is one ride and a half, from being thrown under the barrel of a wave at the start, to getting some awesome amplitude and killer tricks at the end, this is on exhilarating read. A little difficult to get into at first, Swan’s book also explores what is required to be a winner, what it’s like to live with public disgrace, and what it’s like to forever be the villain. Man erfährt ja schon von Clover relativ wenig, da sie uns als Leser nie so richtig in ihren Kopf lässt, man hat ständig das Gefühl, sie wäre nicht ganz greifbar. This is a captivating read and as we get to know Kit there appears to be much more to the story than we first believe.
