The case will protect the brush handle from damage and accidental activation, whilst also protecting up to 2 brush heads. All things considered, the differences between each model in the iO Series range are relatively subtle.
I’ve yet to find anyone who uses them all or any real justification for having so many. The reality is the cleaning results between each are very similar. You could look at the Genius X. This doesn’t require the smartphone camera to be used. Works like the iO but a little less glitzy and feature rich. The 3, 4, 5 and 6 all come with a standard Oral-B charger. White in colour, it has a protuberance on the top that fits into the base of the brush handle.Within the front silver/blue panel is the power button, that turns the brush on and off, the cleaning mode button which when pressed changes the cleaning option you have selected. Reliability is something that we expect in products, but the fast moving consumer goods are often prone to cost saving measures and putting out ‘cheap’ products to maximise profits. Have you tried pressing and holding the power button on the Smart 6 for 10 seconds and then trying again? Included with some models is an accessory known as the brush head refill holder. This is a little stand cum travel case for brush heads.
A second, lesser powered mode such as sensitive is a welcome addition for new electric toothbrush users, or those with gum disease or sensitivity.

The Smart 6 managed some 74 minutes of usage time on test with us. This equates to approx 18 days of real world use. From a young age, you have likely been encouraged to brush your teeth twice a day for 2 minutes. If you haven’t then you need to think about doing this, and the Smart 6 6000 can help you. With the iO10, you get an iO Sense charging stand, which is magnetic and charges the brush in up to 3 hours. But, there is extra tech built-in. If I have a clean fresh feeling mouth, then I tend to find I feel better, more confident and motivated. The brush handle is not perfectly round, sort of more like a rounded rectangle, but a final profile that feels good in the hand, even if the plastics are a little on the glossy side.At times I have found these distracting, you may want to customise the settings to avoid some notifications. Challenges are presented to you allowing you to obtain a score based on how well you brush and improve your habits. Brush better and for longer and you are on the road to success. Gain badges for achievements and share socially if you chose. Assuming you want something a bit more capable, then the iO6 represents the best value option. It has many of the most desirable features of the iO range, including the in-handle display. But, it remains relatively affordable and you get the best of both worlds, so to speak.
My experience and my dentist said don’t be to tight with the toothpaste, put plenty (many don’t put enough). Can I suggest you disconnect the toothbrush from the app. There is an option to forget the handle within the brush settings. Oral-B has added value to the iO9 by including two additional brush heads for a total of four. The iO8 meanwhile, now comes with three brush heads in total.
To switch cleaning modes you must have the brush powered on. You cannot press the cleaning mode button to cycle through them before powering the brush on.
