Fourthly, it is a great choice if you are interested in Chinese culture. By all means, understanding Chinese culture will be easier and add an interesting experience when learning with a native Chinese teacher. These textbooks are essential during the journey! Based on the highly acclaimed and time-tested Practical Chinese Reader (PCR), the New Practical Chinese Reader has been entirely revised and updated. It combines the grammatical strengths of the old Practical Chinese Reader with contemporary material and more emphasis on the learner’s ability to use Chinese in everyday conversation. The New Practical Chinese Reader consists of 70 lessons in six volumes, covering beginning to intermediate levels, for three years of instruction. It would also be helpful (in the opinion of an English teacher) to discuss the formatting for sentences and how the Chinese organize their sentences, early on in the book, rather than waiting until chapter 8 or so.Level 2 books add an additional 150 unique characters to the Level 1 300 core character set. Each book is approximately 15,000 characters in length and offers a manageable increase in grammar and vocabulary used over the Level 1 books. Many learners who are able to read Level 2 readers with adequate speed and comprehension find they perform well on the HSK 4 and the AP Chinese Exam. Hi, I would like to point out that the material under “New Practical Chinese Reader Textbook 3 mp3:” seems to be wrong. It says “Textbook”, but when you unzip the file it is actually “Workbook”. And the files do look the same. I hope you can fix that.

Students also will not find pinyin while learning Chinese grammar starting from the Textbook 2 and on. Gubo ( 古波; gǔbō): Young male student, non-Chinese. The name's transliteration is uncertain, but Cooper or Gilbert has been suggested. According to one of the authors of the original PCR, there was no corresponding name, he simply coined the name because it sounded foreign. There are graded readers written in many languages, but in Mandarin Companion's case, graded readers are written for Chinese learners. Graded readers commonly take the form of novels and are written at a targeted difficulty level or “grade.” Das einzige, was mich etwas stört, ist die Ausrichtung auf Studenten. Da lernt man halt einige Situationen, denen man als Berufstätiger nicht ausgesetzt ist (ich kann 学院 "xueyuan" nicht mehr hören, das ist wohl das meistgebrauchte Wort in diesem Lehrbuch). Used this book and its pairing Workbook in my online class by Confucius. Thanks to there being a teacher to supplement with information here and there, the whole class was able to go through the book and manage to get a lot out of it. This edition has some issues, like some outdated words and expressions, but it’s still used by classes since it’s much cheaper than the 3rd edition. This series for learning Chinese is not without some minor issues, but certainly will recommend this over Integrated Chinese as it a lot cheaper, comes with the audio. (Yes, I know both... part of language teaching).
