The day after, Jessica, Marla, John, and Clay are in the hospital, near Carlton's side as he is recovering from his near-death injury. At the end of the novel, an injured John very vaguely told the childhood crew about Charlie's death. He went to the cemetery where Charlie had taken him a long time ago, and followed the same path she took. In his head, he began thinking about how Charlie told him that she remembered him confessing his love for her, scolding himself. Approaching two small, plain tombstones, he suddenly felt as though he was being watched. He turned around and saw a girl, who is assumed to be Charlie, standing beneath a tree a few yards away, extending her hand towards him. John's mind went numb, and he walked towards the woman under the tree. When it gets dark, they will awaken; the children's spirits will rise. They will kill you. I'll just walk out in the morning, stepping over your corpses, one by one.”

The friends flee the restaurant and fetch Police Officer Dunn, only to find that the restaurant's door has been chained up while they were gone. Charlie later talks with John about her father; he closed the restaurant and committed suicide after Michael was murdered, leading many people in the town to suspect he was the killer. It is shown in The Twisted Ones that upon becoming Springtrap and being released from the small room, William is in an invigorated state of being, having felt powerful due to his newfound strength and his control of the Twisted Animatronics. He expressed how he felt like he was ‘more’ than both his past self and Henry.

As they search for a way out, the four robots come to life and pursue them through the restaurant. William reveals that the robots are possessed by the vengeful ghosts of his victims and boasts that they will hunt down and kill any intruders. The group tries to hide in a party room, but all four robots corner them. William Afton is an evil, selfish, ruthless, and sadistic murderer. He kills any witnesses to keep from getting caught, which shows his cowardly side. Nevertheless, he is still a determined and extremely fierce serial killer, who will not hesitate a single moment to get in a fight with any of his foes or murdering people for experiments or his own amusement. William Afton is also rather ungrateful, having murdered Charlotte Emily despite the fact that if it wasn't for her father, then the franchise wouldn't have achieved its earlier success. Afton is also neglectful and physically abusive towards his daughter Elizabeth, who later on seemingly only accepted her once she became Baby. Despite this, he still acts verbally abusive towards her. Afton prioritizes his work over his own family. He also appears to have a strange connection with Eleanor, both appearing to contain the exact same evil energy from within their bodies. When Eleanor entered the Afton amalgamation, Afton was seemingly satisfied, becoming "complete" after the two entities unite. But after Eleanor left the amalgamation, Afton himself started showing signs of being defeated by getting torn apart by the Puppet, implying that Eleanor was actually after the energy inside of the amalgamation that had been powering Afton from the start. It's implied that Afton was being helped by some supernatural entity, even before Andrew had eventually latched onto him.

They rushed to the doorway to meet her just as she walked in. Arty seemed confused, his mouth opened slightly and his brow furrowed. John watched for a steady moment, then turned away decisively, facing across the table with a grave expression. He didn’t speak until Arty met his gaze. “That’s not Charlie.” Later, John, Jessica, and Clay get a response that Charlie was captured. John proposes to ask Freddy, Bonnie, Chica, Foxy, (who are kept in Clay's basement) to help them rescue Charlie. In the basement, John asks for their help to stop the creations of William Afton. However, the five animatronics don't respond at first until John mentions William Afton which causes the animatronics to go berserk and haywire leading them to escape. John, Jessica, and Clay decide to follow them with the hope that they will be taken to where Charlie is. Marla appears in the final chapter, where she meets John, Jessica, and Arty at a diner. The four of them talk about Charlie and her death. Just then, the four of them see "Charlie" but in an altered appearance, coming to the diner. Marla and Jessica happily run up to her, while Arty and John remained at the booth confused.

The next day, John and his friends attend the scholarship's launch ceremony at their old school, where Michael's parents give a speech about him. Afterwards, John confesses to Charlie that he remembers seeing a strange person in a yellow Freddy costume at Freddy Fazbear's Pizza on the day of Michael's death, and he now suspects this person was Michael's killer. In 1995, Jessica arrives in Hurricane, Utah, to attend the launch of a scholarship dedicated to his old friend Michael Brooks, who went missing a decade earlier due to an incident at Freddy Fazbear's Pizza. Appearing in Chapter 1, she reunites with John and Carlton Burke. Charlie later shows up, and in the middle of their awkward conversations, the four start to talk about Freddy's. They then decide to revisit Freddy Fazbear's Pizza, a restaurant Charlie's father once owned. Carlton claims that an incomplete shopping mall has been built in the restaurant's place. That night, Charlie, Jessica, John, and Carlton return to the restaurant, accompanied by their friends Lamar, Marla, and her 11-year-old brother Jason. The next day, Jessica and her friends attend the scholarship's launch ceremony at their old school, where Michael's parents give a speech about him. A year later, Jessica enters the University of St. George with Charlie. During the time they spend together, they become more united, to the point where Jessica is very concerned about what happens to Charlie and what she thinks, especially when they learn that John was coming to visit her, so Jessica is very interested in what happens between the two of them.
