Sorry for the rant but it really was laughable to see the state of my sink and expect little sam to be able to drink that!

If you miss a dose, you can give the missed dose up to an hour after the meal. But this should be at least 2 hours before the next dose. What if I give too much? For breast-fed babies, mix the right amount of powder with 5 mL of cooled boiled water to make a smooth paste, then mix in another 10 mL of water. Give this to your baby after the feed, using a syringe or spoon. I tried it first then went to docs and mine gave it on perscription if they ask how much you use say one a week and if you use more you have less to buy my doc gave me four at a time but you are only supposed to be on it for 6 mths now my lo is 9mth old and on a follow on milk and w are not having any problems she keeping it down mainly i used avent with the three different speed teats on level three. Allow boiled water to cool for no more than 30 minutes. Measure the required amount of water (see feeding guide) into a sterilised bottle, carefully - the water is hot. Do not use artificially softened or repeatedly boiled water.

Open the sachet just before use. Your doctor will tell you how much of the powder to use; this will also be shown on the medicine label. NHS. Types of formula milk (2019). Available at https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/baby/breastfeeding-and-bottle-feeding/bottle-feeding/types-of-formula/ Accessed April 2023. Approx. Age of Baby: 4 months; Approx. Weight of Baby: 6.7kg, 14 3/4lb; Preparation for Single Feeds: Level scoops: 6, Cooled, Freshly Boiled Water: 180ml, 6 fl.oz. (approx.), Feeds in 24 Hours: 5 The World Health Organisation (WHO) has recommended that pregnant women and new mothers be informed on the benefits and superiority of breastfeeding – in particular the fact that it provides the best nutrition and protection from illness for babies. Mothers should be given guidance on the preparation for, and maintenance of, lactation, with special emphasis on the importance of a well-balanced diet both during pregnancy and after delivery. Unnecessary introduction of partial bottle-feeding or other foods and drinks should be discouraged since it will have a negative effect on breastfeeding. Similarly, mothers should be warned of the difficulty of reversing a decision not to breastfeed. Before advising a mother to use an infant formula, she should be advised of the social and financial implications of her decision: for example, if a baby is exclusively bottle-fed, more than one can (400 g) per week will be needed, so the family circumstances and costs should be kept in mind. Mothers should be reminded that breast milk is not only the best, but also the most economical food for babies. If a decision to use an infant formula is taken, it is important to give instructions on correct preparation methods, emphasising that unboiled water, unsterilised bottles or incorrect dilution can all lead to illness.
