For the treatment of patients with Type 2 diabetes who have nocturnal / severe hypoglycaemia or those with recurrent hypoglycaemic episodes requiring hospital admission

Do not use in active bladder cancer or a past history of bladder cancer, or in those who have uninvestigated macroscopic haematuria. Assess risks for bladder cancer after 3-6months of starting pioglitazone. Victoza (liraglutide) 1.2mg daily dose is appropriate for most patients . Victoza 1.8mg daily is NON-FORMULARY. Patients requiring doses higher than Victoza (liraglutide) 1.2mg should be switched to an alternative GLP-1 receptor agonist e.g. Trulicity (dulaglutide) 1.5 mg weekly or Ozempic (semaglutide) 1mg weekly.
