Gerion asks about his niece and nephews, and, as it turns out, Rhaegar made a sudden change of the Kingsguard roster - Ser Oswell Whent is guarding Shiera and Daeron, and it is unlikely he will allow the children to leave. Gerion decides to ask Colonel Sarring if he would be willing to do the rescuing. Senior Captain Lady Brienne Tarth, 04.09.300AAC, Summerhall SystemSenior Captain Brienne Tarth dramatically announces she and her men are tourists while they carry out the take over of the strategic planet, as part of their long-planned rebellion against the Targaryens, Jon Connington and their constant insults and betrayals ever since the end of the Usurper's Rebellion. As she says, though, it is not about winning, but about being free.

Throughout the series, Adeptus Mechanicus characters are shown wearing all sorts of extreme cyber-implants, as their faction sees this as a form of worship.

Prince Viserys Targaryen, 18.08.300AAC, Dragonstone SystemViserys Targaryen learns of the events in King's Landing, and Lord Ardrian Celtigar tells him they have to remove Rhaegar from power or else the realm will destroy itself. Viserys' plans to claim the crown will be complicated, since he cannot take either Aegon nor Joffrey hostages, thus making a civil war unavoidable: however, if he doesn't act soon, he will lose his chances. Viserys decides to start the plans within a month and a half. In the thirtieth millennium, replacing lost or damaged body parts is a fairly common procedure, and is often done voluntarily by factions such as the Iron Hands and the Adeptus Mechanicus. Space Marines in general tend to acquire a lot of artificial parts, due to the nature of their job. In Wolf King, the Vlka Fenryka is saved by a fleet of Dark Angels which helps defeat the Alpha Legion. During the virus bombing of Istvaan III, the loyalist Death Guard Dreadnought Huron-Fal and his friend Captain Ullis Temeter decide to go out on their own terms. "This death... this death is ours. We choose it. We deny you your victory." [overloads Dreadnought reactor]

The Defeated Admiral, 29.06.283AAC, Binary Twins SystemLoren Lannister, now a prisoner of war of the Boltons, is brought before Lord Roose Bolton, allowing him to learn of the differences between his fleet and the North's - such as, for example, the fact that women serve in the North's fleets and armies, unlike in most of the Seven Sectors. Lord Bolton informs Lannister that that his cousin Tywin Lannister has offered to pay his ransom - with the clear intention of having him executed for being defeated - that the armies in the surface of Bridge's Edge have mostly surrendered and the loyalist fleet is far weaker than what he believes after several battles, so the expected loyalist offensive is still months or even years away from taking place. Galaxy In Flames is a Foregone Conclusion since it details the events that happened at the beginning of the Horus Heresy. Combat Patrol: Genestealer Cults The Conspiracy: The Cabal is an ancient, nebulous organisation of xenos who work to undermine Chaos. Their current goal is to tip the war in Horus' favour so that his side wins but Horus himself destroys humanity out of guilt, depriving Chaos of the emotions humanity provides. They operate in secrecy, having employed human Perpetuals to perform specific actions from spying to assassination during most of human history, and as a result precious few are aware that they even exist.

Requisitions

Early books in the series show Sanguinius as "raven haired", when in Fear to Tread, he's suddenly the blonde that he's shown as literally everywhere else. This one is explained away in The Unremembered Empire. Much like the Emperor, some Primarchs, such as Sanguinius, are seen by others in the way that the viewer subconsciously finds most pleasing or suitable (or possibly in the way that the Primarch wants to be seen). Victarion Greyjoy, 27.08.300AAC, Somewhere in the Summer VoidVictarion gives one of his men four thousand dragons for a strange ring that, supposedly, was found in a crippled tree orbiting a dead planet. Victarion decides to put on the ring. Badass Bookworm: Kasper Hawser is remade by the Space Wolves. They give him super strength, youth, fast reflexes and an eye that uses night vision. Without any training in fighting, he takes out several Imperial Army personnel without breaking a sweat. Part A: The Lies of the Long Peace Ser Axell Florent, 08.07.300AAC, Pyke SystemThe situation in the Iron Sector is starting to get out of hand, as the Ironborn as a whole - save for the people of Harlaw System - have been engaging in a growing resistance movement against the forces occupying their planets ever since the end of the Greyjoy Rebellion. The worst of all is Gregor Clegane, who doesn't even attempt to coordinate efforts with the other leaders of the occupation forces. The others don't have it easier, though: the occupation is causing great stress to them and to their men. Cosmic Horror Story: Well into the Heresy, some people within the Loyalist factions begin to suspect that Horus is being manipulated by something, and a much bigger story than the galaxy at civil war is playing out behind the scenes. The Damnation of Pythos is a particularly apt example of this, down to the strange semi-human cultists, reality warping horror, and sealed-away, world-ending, insanity-causing, unknowable beings from beyond the veil.
