The shape of a sleeping pad is another important characteristic to consider. You usually have two options: Mummy and rectangular. Unlike the Q-Core SLX, this pad has a higher R-value of 4.5 so it will help keep you warmer on colder nights. The Insulated Air Core Ultra Sleeping pad weighs 22oz, which isn’t very light, but not too heavy either. For such a great price, the extra warmth is worth a few more ounces. An R-Value is a new outdoor industry standard which requires every pad to be thoroughly tested then rated based on insulating performance from 1 to 5, the higher the number, the warmer the pad. Overall I am happy with the pad so far, and assuming it will last like my other pad, I would recommend it to anyone looking to upgrade or get a new pad. The bag’s 600-fill DownTek water-repellent down gives it a 30-degree rating when paired with an insulated sleeping pad. In our experience, the addition of the other’s body heat helps the bag remain comfortable in temperatures near its limit.I would very much recommend this product to my closest friends and even my enemies! (I will sleep well on my Q Core regardless!). Well worth the money! Position the patch on the pad and press it with iron for 30-60 seconds until the patch is firmly attached to the fabric. If you find a small puncture (identified by a single steady stream of bubbles) mark it with a piece of chalk or masking tape. Let the pad dry and then deflate it.

Rectangular pads offer more space, but they will be heavier in general. The couple of extra ounces may be worth it to you though.
