Edwards, Cory (March 25, 2007). "Hoodwinked 2: Director Hired". coryedwards.com . Retrieved October 11, 2012. Hoodwinked! received a one-week, limited release in Los Angeles on December16, 2005 to qualify for Oscar consideration. [55] A nationwide U.S. release was scheduled for Christmas Day, 2005, but it was moved to January13, 2006 to avoid competition with other films released during the holiday season. [19] Home media [ edit ] Granny actually is genuinely concerned about the book. But that is not the reason why she discourages Red from visiting - the actual reason is because she's participating in the Xtreme Dream Snow Sports Competition, a big downhill ski race she's been training for three months to compete in. Granny's team is comprised of herself, a fox named Zorra, a penguin named 2-Tone, and a polar bear named P-Biggie. During the pre-race festivities and concert ("Tree Critter"), Granny is approached by Boingo, who admires her, and asks her for her autograph. Granny is also warned by her teammates that the guys of the rival team - an all-human team comprised of four hulky athletes, named Dolph, Lisa, Vincent, and Keith - are very aggressive. According to Granny's teammates, they hospitalized a few contestants in yesterday's race. In March 2001, Cory Edwards was once rumored make fifth sequel of true story little red riding hood. Hoodwinked is a great movie. It is funny, and has a good story. The animation is also really good.”

In the main commentary, Edwards and his fellow filmmakers Tony Leech and Todd Edwards talk more about the getting the tone of the film just right. "We didn't want to scare the kids," says Leech about the shadowy film noir feel, "but at the same time you wanted there to be some mystery and intrigue." Edwards reveals that there were many "debates" over this issue. "I wanted to scare the kids just a little bit," he says, "but not too much." Using "the language of film" was one way that Edwards and co. lightened the tone, eg recreating moments from Kill Bill (as Red and The Wolf eyeball each other).a b Edwards, Cory (May 19, 2007). "Living in a Satirical World". coryedwards.com . Retrieved April 2, 2012. The Wolf and Kirk distract Boingo as Granny sneaks into Boingo's lair, but they are all found out. Boingo sends a bound and gagged Red down the mountain in a cable car loaded with explosives. Granny goes after Red, with Boingo and his henchmen in pursuit. Red frees herself and escapes with Granny, while the police, who have been redirected by a caffeine crazed Twitchy, wait at the bottom of the mountain to arrest Boingo and his henchmen.

A sequel, Hoodwinked Too! Hood vs. Evil, was released on April 29, 2011. It was first announced in January 2006 [86] and in February, Cory Edwards, Todd Edwards, and Tony Leech explained that although they would be writing the screenplay, they would not return to direct. [25] Cory Edwards later elaborated on this decision, explaining that he had a negative experience working with some of the first film's "key players" and felt that he had been poorly treated by them. [87] He also cited concerns over being confined to animation, and stated that he felt it would be a lateral move to direct a sequel to his first film as his second film. [87] In March 2007, Edwards announced that Mike Disa had been hired to direct the sequel and expressed enthusiasm over his involvement, saying that he "has a real passion for the film and a devotion to maintaining the Hoodwinked world. He wants to do the sequel justice and he really gets what we're trying to do." [88] Although much of the first film's cast returned for the sequel, Anne Hathaway was replaced by Hayden Panettiere in the role of Red and Jim Belushi was replaced by Martin Short in the role of Kirk the Woodsman. The premise of the movie sounds good - take an all star cast including Anne hathaway, Glenn Close and James Belushi, and a much loved tale...and tell the whole story, putting across everyone's arguments from Red Riding Hood, to Granny down to the Wolf...plus add a little mystery to the case...in this case a their who is stealing recipes from the townsfolk and disrupting their business which gives the movie more material to work with. Red starts her day making a delivery run for her Granny, who lives many miles away on the other side of the forest, delivering goods to various creatures around the forest ("Great Big World"), who all give her friendly greetings, while singing to herself about her desire to travel. It is revealed to us that Red is more worldly wise than she is letting on. Edwards, Cory (February 15, 2011). "Twitchy's Voice: The Sequel". coryedwards.com .
