About this deal

The Daily Record and Sunday Mail have always been at the forefront when it comes to reporting crime in Scotland. The two brothers’ paths diverge early as one become sort of cool and well-known London journalist and the other becomes a creep and then a murderer.

Before we get into a massive thank you to AG1, who have been helping to make the podcast happen this year. This is a family memoir and is focused on the author’s experience, thoughts and feelings in particular. Speaking of the meeting in 2001, Alix said: “If I was the guy accused of doing something like this, what would I say to my brother?Over more than three decades he has filed hundreds of features on crime, popular culture and fashion for the Guardian, Observer, Sunday Times and Sunday Telegraph, as well as various UK and international magazines. And with the clock ticking as Stuart Campbell awaits a possible parole, can he be convinced to come clean and end the agony of Danielle's family, finally giving up the location of her remains? Investigations also revealed that his phone and Danielle's phone were together near his home for around 30 hours after she vanished. The one thing that kind of nagged at me was the author trying so hard to pinpoint an exact reason for why his brother was attracted to adolescent girls and how he could escalate to assaulting and killing his own niece.

This book simultaneously reaches into the past in two different time periods, one counting the time since Danielle's disappearance and secondly to their earliest days as brothers and both timelines shine through with an honesty that took my breath away. In My Brother the Killer, Stuart's older brother Alix Sharkey chronicles the violent childhood and troubled teens that helped shape a bright and handsome little boy into one of Britain's most notorious killers, and led to one of the UK's most unusual murder trials. The brother of a man who murdered his 15-year-old niece says he is 'furious' that he could be released from prison this year despite never confessing to his crime or revealing where he hid the body. Overall, this was a really good piece of true crime writing, especially if you love to know about the background behind why his brother may have killed. The book has a great narrative style flowing backwards and forwards between the past and present as the author investigates his own back story and relationships with his father, mother and friends at school, as well as the different stages of the investigation and subsequent trial of his brother as he finds out more of his hidden past.Film fans are left HORRIFIED by Dune 2 promotional popcorn bucket that looks just like a raunchy SEX TOY: 'I do not want to stick my hand in that!

He regularly picked her up from the school bus stop in his van, sent her 'an inordinate amount of text messages' and kept a diary chronicling his contact with her. Yet it was Alix’s kid brother Stuart—button-cute and fearless—who defended his siblings at home, at school and on the streets. Alix has written a book which tells the story of two families, his own and the Jones, in a deeply reverential way.

The book is interesting because it is a composite of a family story, social history, true crime, and a career in journalism. A man has told how he knew his brother was guilty of killing a missing schoolgirl after just 10 minutes in his company. Despite his conviction, a lost appeal, and repeated pleas by her parents, Stuart has steadfastly refused to reveal the location of his victim’s remains, condemning the girl’s parents to two decades of unresolved grief.
