The first lasted about 2 months before it started playing up, started stopping and starting when running. Maybe they need more power, holes of accurate and repeatable depth, or to make holes using larger Forstner bits than their power drill can handle. A : Hi Ben, well Bosch list the PBD 40 as being suitable for drilling holes of up to 40mm diameter in wood so you should be within the upper limits of its operational capability, but I'm afraid I'm not sure if it will do it "easily".

When you say "large" forstners, what diameter do you mean by that (a large forstner to me is 40mm+).
