The pewter chess pieces are based on popular characters from the LOTR trilogy, and are described as "more finely sculpted than Aragorn's jawline". The covers are nice enough, cloth bound and colourful, but the paper is of fairly poor quality and browns easily. Charmed Life arrives in an explosion of magic in this edition illustrated by Alison Bryant and introduced by Katherine Rundell. The Lay of Gudrún recounts her fate after the death of Sigurd, her marriage against her will to the mighty Atli, ruler of the Huns (the Attila of history), his murder of her brothers, and her hideous revenge. Housed in a matching custom-built slipcase decorated with stunning wraparound artwork, it also features two full-colour removable posters that are unique to this edition.
