About this deal

I use a Sony A6000 mirrorless camera which is smaller than most full-frame DSLR cameras, but Peak Design claim the clip will work well with “the largest of professional cameras.” In fact they say it can withstand well over 90kg (200lbs). With my heaviest lens, my camera weighs 830g. I actually find it more stable when it’s heavier as it bounces around less. Getting the Capture Clip opened is as simple as undoing the left and right knobs (remember, it’s righty-tighty and lefty-loosey). After loosening those, the upper layer can now swing upwards. As far as I’m concerned, the Capture Clip could be used wherever you can imagine using it. As long as there is a place the metal plates can grab on tightly, it can be used to mount your camera. Similarly, the metal plate’s low profile is awesome—you hardly notice it when you’re holding on to your camera and I love that it’s already compatible with Arca tripods (including Peak Design’s!). Comfort The straps: the broad one (Tallac) is stiff and slippery. Looks nice in blue. On a wall because on a camera it's useless. Now they refined it again... Peak Design says the Capture is rated for up to 90 kg / 200 lb so safety-wise almost anything you would put on there is a non-issue. For me personally, the Hasselblad was a bit too heavy to be comfortable. But it wasn't just the weight; I also didn’t feel comfortable with the way large cameras or those with long lenses tend to pull down, potentially jabbing into your body. Bottom lineFully detaching your camera is also easier from the Capture Clip compared to a harness system, especially if you need to then attach the camera to a tripod.Let’s say a couple getting married wants an old school documentation of their ceremony, just a camera set up filming what happens (I have had to do this). With a harness, you need to detach the camera from the harness and re-attach it to an Arca Swiss plate before it’s ready to go. While I've been using the Peak Design anchors for a bit, I find since they they don't swivel, I have to every so often unravel the cord. Also, there’s supposed to be a little bit of play between the camera and the clip. Without that play it would be impossible to get your camera in or out.

I actually counted, and I found over the years I had collected 12 V1 loops, 12 V2 loops, and 8 V3 loops. The replacement was for both V1 and V3 loops, and I just got in 20 replacement loops. Yes, sometimes I also use the Capture Clip to aid in changing lenses. It depends on the situation and equipment involved. Bino (Binoculars) Kit: A standard plate with curved metal extension designed to attach to the bridge between binocular optics. Allows for the mounting of binoculars on the Capture Clip or a tripod. The Capture system not only makes it simple to carry your camera, but it also means you always have a plate attached for tripod mounting. https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1158934-REG/miggo_mw_ms_str_bb_40_universal_padded_camera_2_way.html My Peak Design Capture Clip came with a standard Arca-Swiss-compatible plate, 2 hand-drive screws, 2 4mm hex screws, a hex wrench and a microfiber pouch to store everything in. Creator Kit: Part of Peak Design’s smartphone accessories called Mobile. This is a standard plate and magnet system designed for securely mounting a phone in conjunction with the Peak Design Everyday Case. https://www.kagecollective.com/kage-stories/2016/5/12/review-domke-1-gripper-strap-with-swivel-the-little-strap-that-could

I also use the Capture Clips, they are what usually carry the weight, not the straps. The straps I use mainly as a safety net, or momentarily to give me a third hand whilst changing lenses or for when I need both of my hands for something else for a moment or two.

Peak's QR Anchor Links can actually be bought separately and used with any strap FWIW. I did that for a long time with my A&A ACAM E-25, I've since been swayed by the updated Leash and Cuff tho. Take, for example, our lenses. For our two cameras— the Sony A7III and the Sony a6400, we primarily travel with three different lenses: a telephoto Sigma 100-400mm F5-6.3, a wide-angle Sony 16-35mm Vario-Tessar T FE F4, and a Sony SEL50M28 FE 50mm F2.8 for macro shots.

Its solid construction also helps me feel confident that our very expensive lenses and cameras are securely strapped to our bodies as we climb over tree roots, logs, and whatever else we encounter on the trail or out in our travels. We’ve never once had an issue—or heard of any other user—having some kind of malfunction that led to dropping delicate camera gear. The Capture Clip, when used on the belt, can provide a super-stable lens changing platform. Simply put the camera on vertically (it’ll look “sideways”). The Capture Clip will hold it in place perfectly for your lens change.

If you’re like me, you’ll just leave the plate on the camera for 90% of the time. Just note that this means it won’t sit flat on a surface any more.
